NONI ADDICT
If you have spoken to a Noni addict, then you have heard the talk about how the Noni fruit heals and cures disease and issues. A Noni addict should be aware of the problems associated with the growth of the plant. Many of the problems that are bypassed upon production of the juices, are a stem canker, root knot disease, shot hole, stem blight, and black flag disease.
A stem canker on a Noni tree is a progressive rotting of stems on the tree at the interface between woody and green stem tissues. There will be lesions on the stem that are rough, with dark borders, and have a corky appearance. Fruit should not be harvested off of a Noni tree with stem cankers.
Root knot disease is another problem with Noni trees a Noni addict would know nothing about. This is when parasitic nematodes invade the roots of the tree and cause it to die. Not only are the roots infected with parasites, but other fungus and bacteria begin to invade as well. Fruit from this tree can be dangerous. Not only is the fruit on the tree bad for you, but the soil will need to be treated and may not be suitable for planting again.
Black flag disease is dangerous and comes from the Noni tree and can be spread through the fruit if the tree is diseased. A Noni addict should be aware of the seriousness of black flag stemming from only the Noni tree. Fruits from these trees should never be used. The black flag disease shows blackened veins of the leaves of the Noni tree. If someone doesn’t know what it means, they will consume the fruit. This is a pathogen and dangerous.
These diseases and studies with the Noni trees were provided by the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture. These studies are proven to be true. Unlike the beliefs of a Noni addict that the Noni cures disease and illness.
A Noni addict who proclaims to all that the juice cures illness and is healthy should be aware of the dangers that can come with the tree if it is not properly taken care of. The fruits should not be harvested if there are problems with the tree. There are numerous diseases and issues that could arise with the growth of the Noni. These are only a few.
